After a decade-long pursuit of a class action settlement from Ticketmaster, consumers may finally be entitled to some compensation. The ticket-selling giant, now owned by Live Nation, has agreed to a $400 million settlement that would credit 50 million ticket buyers to compensation from as far back as 1999.

The lawsuit, originally filed in 2003, was based on allegations of misleading consumer charges on ticket purchases. The lawsuit targeted order processing fees and other additional charges that were strictly profit centers for the company rather than payments for services rendered.

The settlement is scheduled for an approval hearing in January 2015, but it is likely that the company’s actual payout will be less as the majority of applicable consumers will not know that they are eligible to make a claim or will not know how to get involved.
